Who can donate?
What forms of donations are accepted?
Credit card donations (MasterCard and Visa only) will be accepted through the giving website. Donations via check, cash or donor advised fund grants will also be accepted at our office from 8:00am - 6:00pm on May 2nd.
Are gifts tax-deductible?
All donations are tax deductible, irrevocable and 100% will go to the endowment fund of your chosen charity.
Is there a minimum gift?
Yes, there is a minimum gift of $10.
How will the donations be reported on my credit card statement?
Your credit card statement will read: Midland Area Community Foundation
May I pay a pledge with my Giving Day gift?
Give Local Midland is designed to generate new support, not to pay off existing pledges.
May I designate how a nonprofit uses my gift?
No, Give Local Midland gifts will go directly to the endowment fund for the nonprofit you choose. Endowment funds are held at the Midland Area Community Foundation for the sole benefit of the nonprofit organization named in the fund.
How much of the donation will go to the nonprofit?
100% of your donations will be paid to the chosen nonprofit’s endowment fund. Endowment funds are charged fees of just 1-2% to cover administrative costs and credit card processing fees. The full amount of your donation will earn matching dollars.
Can I make my donation over the phone?
Using your smartphone, you can donate online at www.givelocalmidland.org. If you do not have internet access, you are welcome to call our office at 989.839.9661 and give your credit card information over the phone.
May I use my donation to buy event tickets, museum memberships, or other things that provide me a benefit?
No, donations may not be used to pay for anything that might be perceived as a material benefit to the donor, advisor or other disqualified person – including dinner tickets, membership fees, golf fees, admission tickets or other gifts.
MATCHING FUNDS AND PRIZES
How are matching funds awarded?
Every donation made on giving day will earn matching funds from a local gift pool. Each organization will earn a percentage of the matching pool, based on the total percentage they earn throughout the day. For example, assuming $100,000 is raised from donors, and Agency X earns $10,000, thus 10%, they will receive 10% of the total matching pool in addition to the $10,000 already raised.

What organizations are eligible for Give Local Midland?
Any nonprofit organization that has an endowed fund at MACF is eligible to participate in Give Local Midland. Organizations who desire to open an endowment fund at MACF should contact our office at 989.839.9661.
What if I can't find my favorite nonprofit on the website?
If you can't find them on the site, they may not be participating in the event this year. After the event, please encourage the nonprofit to contact us so we can help them get started.
